Kanzu Code is a digital transformation company that builds innovative, inclusive digital financial solutions for clients in sub-Saharan Africa. Our flagship product, Kanzu Banking, helps financial institutions & savings groups manage and grow their finances. 

The Kanzu Code Foundation discovers aspiring young African software developers, trains them and deploys them into the marketplace in various roles across the continent and beyond.

Given the urgent need for relevant financial services across the continent, there is an  interest and funding opportunities for financial technology in East Africa. Also, given the high unemployment rates across the continent and the rapidly growing global tech space, there’s a global interest in providing funding to initiatives that bridge that gap.

Your job will be to ensure that we successfully secure the right funding and partnerships to continue providing innovative, inclusive digital financial solutions  and training the next generation of tech leaders on the continent.

As our Grants Writer, you will be tasked with researching funding opportunities, identifying support agencies and submitting winning grant applications to mission-aligned funding organisations.

Job Brief

 

The Grant writer will write proposals to apply for financial grants allocated by government departments, companies, foundations, and trusts to support the work of both Kanzu Code and The Kanzu Code Foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high quality and professional documentation in connection with grant proposals to donor organisations.

  • Identify realistic funding opportunities for Kanzu Code and The Kanzu Code Foundation.

  • Playing a key role in achieving sufficient funds for Kanzu Code and The Kanzu Code Foundations to be a well-funded and resilient organisations

This is you if you are:

 

  • Highly experienced in writing grant proposals for international donors for development projects. Experience from the education and tech/innovation sectors is an added advantage

  • Able to summarise and present content provided by various members of the Kanzu Code and Kanzu Code Foundation teams into grant proposal formats and presentations with minimal supervision.

  • Have a fair understanding of the technology ecosystem in Uganda and on the continent.

  • Motivated to support Kanzu Code and the Kanzu Code Foundation to achieve their fundraising targets

  • Have excellent written communication skills in English.

  • Able to present content in a concise and appealing way both in documents and PowerPoint presentations.

  • Systematic with attention to detail, able to collect supporting documentation for grant proposals and follow instructions, formats and checklists.

  • Familiar with how to structure a development proposal through concepts like Theory of Change.

  • Able to plan work well and keep deadlines.
